Rummy might look easy to learn and play, but if you don’t know the rules of the game, you may end up making a lot of mistakes. The expert players are prone to make mistakes as the game is a fast-paced one. Here are some of the common mistakes that a beginner should avoid while you play rummy game.
Playing directly without appearing in practice tables
It is the biggest blunder any aspirant can make. If you know the game, it is a huge risk to play directly without playing practice matches as rummy is a totally different game. Your temptation to play should not obstruct your logic and take you straight to cash tables. Always play practice matches and then go for serious games
Holding high-value cards for long
Rummy is a different game if compared to the rest of the games. When you have high-value cards, you will run the risk of losing the deal. Make sure the high-value cards are discarded on each turn when you feel you have a big hand. You need not have to hold high-value cards to form a pure sequence which is a necessity to win rummy.
Discarding wild cards
If you have a wild card, make sure you do not drop it. There is a possibility that you consider it as another card and discard it. You may overlook the fact that you have discarded a wild card and missing an opportunity to form a sequence. You may not make this mistake when you have a printed joker as a wild card but when a random card is picked to do a role of a wild card, you may end up making this mistake. So keep a close watch on your cards.
Taking an eye off your opponents
In rummy, it is important to keep an eye on your own cards. But it is equally important to have an eye on your opponents’ game. If you keep an eye on them and remember their moves, you will have an idea of the type of sequence they are trying to form. If you have a card that can assist them in forming a sequence, your persistent watch on your opponents’ moves will alert your mind that you should not be discarding them.
